The Natural Resources department chose The Natural Resources Conservation Academy (NRCA). The Natural Resources Conservation Academy (NRCA) enables learners to generate conservation benefits to Connecticut communities by providing the tools and support to carry out conservation-based service-learning projects. The academy was impacted by donations including: $10–Food and snacks during CAP field day for a student, $25–Field supplies for a student, $50–Conservation project supplies, $100–Plants for a rain garden installation, and $1,400–Sponsor a students participation in the CAP program.
Conservation Ambassador Program (CAP) engages teens in field experience at UConn, and a 10-month conservation project. The field experience immerses teens in natural resources science and arms them with skills used by professionals to address current environmental issues. The program culminates when students present their work at the Connecticut Conference on Natural Resources.
